The Common Rockrose in its wild form has bright yellow 5-petalled flowers, the oval leaves being white and woolly in appearance underneath.

Favours calcareous grassland, but can also be found on acid soils in Scotland. Quite erratic in its distribution. In flower from late spring to early autumn.
