Although born and bred in Leicester in the English
Midlands, I have spent a large part of my life in
Berkshire, currently in a village on the northern edge of
Reading.
Photography
is just one of several interests I have, mostly outdoor related,
and I particularly enjoy trying to capture the atmosphere of a beautiful
landscape or getting up close to a wildflower or small insect. Having
a mathematical mind rather than an artistic one means that I always
have to work on my skills rather than finding it all comes naturally,
but that for me is all part of the fun.
Having
no dramatic features such as mountains or a rocky coastline, the
area I live in tends to be overlooked by most photographers, which
is perhaps a little bit unfair, although understandable. The purpose
of this website is to show that there are interesting
landscapes to be
found
not only here, but
probably anywhere if you know where to look and when.
Most
of the photographs you will see on this site were taken with a film
camera, either an Olympus "OM" series camera, a Mamiya 645 or, more
recently, a Hasselblad XPan for panoramic shots. The exceptions are
a very small number taken with a digital compact or
a digital
'bridge'
camera.
I have no feelings against digital SLRs, just that I still haven't
decided which one to get!
I
hope you enjoy the photographs as much as I have enjoyed going out
and taking them.
