South
of Day's Lock on the River Thames stand two prominent tree-covered
hills called the Sinodun Hills, but known locally as Wittenham Clumps.
One, the site of an Iron Age fort, is Castle Hill (on the left of
the picture), and the other, seen here in the centre, is Round Hill.
The Clumps, which are open to the public, are managed by the Northmoor Trust. Find the location on an interactive map. |
