| For
centuries, Reading's street market was held in the Market Place
near St Laurence's church (the street running past the site is
still called Butter Market). It was moved to a new location in
Hosier Street in 1977, ironically very close to its original home
more than a thousand years earlier, where it can still be found
today. However, there are proposals to move it yet again if plans
for a new Civic Centre go ahead. Find the location on an interactive map. |
