The bar and restaurant on Piper's Island is accessible only via a walkway from Caversham bridge. In recent years the original building was demolished and replaced with the one shown here.

The small island is named after a local ferryman whose house was moved 8 feet to another location in 1869 to make way for the new Caversham bridge.
