The Crooked Billet is a small, well hidden country inn and restaurant situated along a lane leading off from the village of Stoke Row, on the edge of the Chilterns.

Until recent years it was very basic with very simple furnishing, and still doesn't feature a bar. However, it now incorporates a restaurant and has a reputation for very good food. Famous names associated with the Crooked Billet include the highwayman, Dick Turpin, who pursued the daughter of the landlord of the day, and Kate Winslett, who chose it to host her first wedding reception.
