To the south of the Henley town centre on the Oxfordshire side of the river there are water meadows. In the summer months the Thames towpath makes a pleasant riverside walk, whilst the meadows are popular for recreation and picnics. During the winter, however, they often become flooded.

The Henley Wildlife Group has established a small wildlife area near where this photograph was taken.
