Just some of the options for recycling in the Emmer Green area are listed below. There will undoubtedly be others, and suggestions for adding to the list are always welcome. Click here to inform us of further options you may know of.

As well as accepting household waste, the Civic Amenity site in Island Road has extensive recycling facilities. Click here to locate it on a map.

Thanks to Jenny Leach for bringing the Freecycle scheme to our attention. This seems to be a very useful way of finding a good home for items that you are happy to offer for free.

Christmas cards Support the Woodland Trust scheme and help to raise money for charity. Special Christmas card recycling bins will be in place across the UK mainland throughout January at WHSmith, Tesco, TK Maxx and Marks & Spencer.  
Christmas trees Recycling takes place at a variety of locations around Reading in January and February Visit www.reading.gov.uk or check the local press for details
Clothing Civic Amenity site, Island Road Banks at these sites are managed by Charity organisations. Clothing should be clean and in bags.

A charity working with the long term unemployed. Computers are refurbished and used for IT training and job search.
Computer Aid Old computer hardware is refurbished and sent to projects in developing companies. Mainly suitable for business, but they will accept from individuals as well.
Cookers Many shops and stores will take these in exchange.
