As early as 1986 Emmer Green
sought recognition of its own identity when it asked for sign posting.
Correspondence with the Post Office began in 1994 due to the muddle
and inconsistencies in addresses. Caversham or Emmer Green was never
clear. It still remained a problem some two years later. Thanks to
a vigorous exchange between Royal Mail and committee member Sue Norris,
supported by local councillor Ian Fenwick, Emmer Green was finally
defined in 1997. |
